Kicking off our Top 5 Tuesdays being back with, “what we’d do with Five Days on St. John”
As you can imagine, post hurricane St. John is a little bit different than Pre-hurricane St. John. (This has become a common way of referring to things down here; the before and after.)
We have been consistently saying that we are ready for tourists and we really need people to visit this year. So, we are getting back into our normal blogging about St. John with what you can do and see and eat and drink for five days on St. John.
Day 1– Drive the North Shore and take in how different everything looks and then choose a beach of your choice and spend the day with said beach virtually to yourself. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to spend time on St. John without the crowds. Head into town after the beach and grab a drink at one of the MANY open bars and restaurants; they’ll fully appreciate your patronage. Dinner your first night, catch the sunset at Ocean 362 and enjoy their new Chef Paul’s great fare
Day 2– Drive out to Coral Bay and hit up Salt Pond Bay for a day of snorkeling. Make sure you stop at Skinny Legs for a burger and cold beverage. Dinner at Rhumblines is a good choice; semi casual after your day of driving and delicious as always
Day 3– Boat Day- join us for a day of fun on the water! A lot is open in the BVI and the underwater world is beautiful; if the BVI isn’t it for you, a US waters only trip is tons of fun and everyone loves visiting Pizza Pi for a slice or two. Grab a quick dinner in town after your long day on the water, we love sitting at the bar at Lime Inn!
Day 4– Beach Day Again, pick another beach, grab some sandwiches (Paul at Island Cork has great grab and go sandwiches) Grab a beer at the Tap Room after the beach and eat there or venture into Cruz Bay and visit Banana Deck or La Tapa for delicious dinners.
Day 5– Breakfast in Cruz Bay, Hike the Lind Point Trail over to honeymoon beach and spend a great day relaxing and snorkeling and then take their free dinghy shuttle back to Cruz Bay just in time for Happy Hour. Last dinner on St John- Extra Virgin Bistro! But before dinner, stop into Island Cork at Wharfside Village for a delicious glass of wine!
Hi. How is the travel from St. Thomas airport to get to St. John? We were supposed to be there less than 2 weeks after the storms hit and miss it so much. Is downtown recovering?
Hi Donald, Travel from the airport to St John is the same as it’s always been. taxi’s are waiting outside the airport and the ferry is running normal hours, except they are stopping at 8:00pm from St. Thomas. St. John is very much recovering and very much needing tourism to come back. Cruz Bay is very very normal with most restaurants open and the rebuild beginning at many locations; boats are off of the beach in front of wharf side village and they are doing construction and slated to open back up in March, and the rest of Cruz Bay looks very good. We lost a few restaurants permanently, but the vast majority of them are back and running as normal! The beaches are all open and gorgeous with no crowds; it’s a great time to come visit!
Thanks for the update.
